Christ the King Sunday is the last Sunday before Advent. Advent is the season when we prepare our hearts and lives for the birth of Jesus, who is God with us in human flesh. It is fitting as we end each church year that we remember Jesus is our creator, our redeemer, and our eternal king. As we prepare to enter the season of Advent and the busy Christmas season, let us pause and reflect on Jesus as our king using a passage from Revelation 1:5-7 –
To [Jesus] who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. So it is to be. Amen.
